We are looking for Apparel and Home Decor Buyers with corporate level experience working for a major department store, specialty retailer or off-price organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning:

-Owner of strategic vision for assigned category

-Develops and achieves seasonal unit plans

-Vigilantly monitors sales, takes appropriate action to capitalize, or has contingency plan to react to potential shortfalls

-Uses information from store visits in planning process

-Analyzes relevant data and interprets statistics in order to make timely and sound business decisions

Assortment Planning and Product Development:

-Proactively assesses merchandise mix in attempt to continuously improve assortment, with r-relentless pursuit of emerging trends

-Understands the customer demographics in each market area, and builds assortments accordingly

-Travels frequently to purchase merchandise, develop key items or vendors and make new market contacts

Vendor Partnerships:

-Actively pursues creative avenues in order to procure merchandise

-Positively represents the company in the marketplace

-Elicits critical information from vendors in regard to trends, and buying activity of competitors

-Skillfully negotiates with vendors on pricing, content of assortment and terms etc.

-Ensures vendor adherence to scheduled shipping windows

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

-Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Off-Price Buyer or someone with Home Décor background

-Prior product development experience is preferred

-Four year degree in Retail Merchandising, Business Administration and/or Marketing

-Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook

-Strong retail math skills
